steven spielberg and empire magazine are evil, evil, evil. here is proof. this is a little game empire like to call what's this detail from? and it's from tintin, obviously, snowy white dog, tintin's blue sweater, and captain haddock's jacket. the yellow is probably background or some kind of paper. they're going to release little bit's of a picture piece by piece until they've revealed the first image. it's like having the gorgeous love child of benedict and matt performing a strip tease in front of me and only taking off one little bit of clothing every hour. except, obviously, a lot less erotic.
i remember watching episodes of tintin in french class, in french obviously, and loving it despite the fact i really didn't understand anything that was going on. imagine how much better it's going to be with steven moffat and edgar wright writing the screenplay... i can't wait, really really really can't wait. it's going to be so good. well at least the writing, i'm not so sure about all this motion acting crap. when you have great live actors that look like the characters then why not just make it live action? we've already seen cartoon tintin. i guess if it turns out anything like watchmen it would be kind of cool. i just don't understand why, if it's based on a comic series people feel the need to make it look all cartoony.
animation should be reserved for films that need animation. animation is a way to create a new world, to make something purely driven by imagination and to blur the boundaries of realism. tintin is set in the real world, so why not make it in the real world?
jamie bell should be good though. god i can't wait for a trailer or at least some form of complete image.
next year is going to be an amazing year for film nerds. tintin, the final harry potter and the deathly hallows part 2, thor, captain america, green lantern, sherlock holmes allegedly starring steven fry, the green hornet, a film adaptation of jack keroac's on the road which shall allegedly have steve buscemi, kirsten dunst, kristen stewart, amy adams and viggo mortensen in it, and neil patrick harris starring in the smurfs. of course australia probably won't get a majority of these films until 2012, by which time i plan to be travelling the world so i'm going to have to save an extra kitty of moneys for movie tickets whilst in country's as behind the eight ball as us.
the harry potter countdown begins. the midnight screening at imax is already sold out. i'm going to have to get some people together to go at 7am thursday november 18th. or just wait like a non-nerdy person and see it some normal time.
but where's the fun in that?
